Starting in the forties of the last century Lima has grown a lot, the terrible period of terrorism has brought even more people fleeing from the country, the huge part of the extreme periphery is a slum with minimal services metaphorically called "pueblo joven" . The program "My Barrio", sponsored by the Municipal progressive "Lima Metropolitana" (Mayor Susana Villaran 2010-2014) has encouraged education and cohesion among the people, while increasing infrastructure such as stairways, to facilitate internal mobility.
