The elegant and secluded accommodation officers, called "Casino Oficiales", part of the ESMA (Escuela Mecanica de la Armada) is the place where the hostages were being physically interrogated and tortured and made to disappear in the most various ways. The testimonies tell of excessive closeness between the daily lives of officers and prisoners tortured. After the return of democracy, the building remained in the possession of the army for many years to come and when it was expropriated was delivered empty and also renovated to erase traces. The interiors are not open to the public, however, can be visited on request, the highly skilled staff is keen to spread the memory of what happened in there for seven years.
