The finca Magdalena, along the slopes of the volcano Maderas, is a cooperative made up of former combatants Sandinistas, they've invested about coffee that is sold on the solidarity market, and on bananas. Beyond that in the old farmhouse they have created a backpackers hotel and a restaurant. If industrialization due to the Canal will cut the flow of tourists, the rest will continue to make for them and their families.
