This city of peruvian central Andes is very important for the story of the entire continent, they fought here the last battle of independence of Americas. Nowadays, after the terrible time of Sendero Luminoso, Ayacucho is living a rebirh. It's a pleasant town with a nice small historical center. Its 33 churches are the city jewel as like as the main square with their secular houses. Local gastronomy and a local style to play classic guitar are other two interesting points of this city. But the most important is the artisanship, the popular artisanship. Belonging from a secular tradition, the local artisanship is made by "retablo" (Originally a portable altar nowadays a very coloured and plastic story) pottery of Quinua, "tabla de Sarhua" ( peinture on the wood) and the sculpture in local alabaster call Pedra de Huamanga, eveything is made in small domestic laboratories hidden between the historical center and suburbs.
